The call comes as a number of hospitals eased some restrictions in the last few days, but others have made no change. This only deepens the inequity of access, advocates say, as they demanded the science behind these changes be made public.

Mum Carrie Lane said Logan was nearly born at 26 weeks after her waters broke and there was a Group B Strep infection, so she had three helicopter rides to Portsmouth for treatment, but in the end she made it to 34 weeks. After birth, Logan spent 16 days in the Special Care Baby Unit on the Island. Carrie said: “I’d like to thank the maternity team for all the midwives who went through this rocky journey with myself and little Logan and to the SCBU for looking after and caring for Logan, who is the fifth premature baby in the family.
