NORWALK, Conn. Norwalk Police wrote more speeding tickets in January, Deputy Chief James Walsh said. With 176 sworn personnel, the department had five patrolling vacancies. There were 150.25 sick days used and 73 workmen’s comp days.
Walsh gave the report at Monday’s Police Commission meeting, where Norwalk Police Officer Russell Ouellette was named officer of the month.
There were 167 criminal arrests in January and 4,639 calls for service, Walsh said. Three officers were on extended workmen’s compensation leave; two new officers were sworn in and one officer is on a leave of absence.
Pittsburgh police have found a missing Homewood woman.
Police confirmed about 8:40 p.m. that she was located and safe.
Prior to being found, she was last seen Friday in Oakland.

Grand Theft Auto V star Ned Luke is not dead despite messages that some are sharing on social media platforms, including Twitter.
Many social media users took to Twitter earlier today to share tweets claiming that the actor, best known for voicing and portraying Michael De Santa in Grand Theft Auto V (GTA V), has passed away.
“The man who plays Michael De Santa on GTA5, Ned Luke, has passed away and I have never felt a heartbreak as big as this one,” one person tweeted.

A Paterson man took advantage of an incapacitated woman at a Saddle Brook hotel, authorities charged.
Hakeem Taylor, 22, was “fully aware” that the woman was both under the influence and sleeping in a room at the Crowne Plaza Hotel off Route 80 following a party on Jan. 31, according to a criminal complaint.
Eight days later, the woman reported unwelcomed cunnilingus from him to township police, records show.
The victim was “incapacitated and unable to provide consent,” Bergen County Prosecutor Musella said Friday in announcing Taylor’s arrest on first-degree aggravated sexual assault charges the day before.
Taylor remained in the Bergen County Jail pending a first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack.
