BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KERO) â On Tuesday, the Kern County Sheriff s Office announced that they had seized over 4,000 lbs of illegal fireworks in Kern County as part of an undercover operation.
Over a two-week period members of the Kern County Sheriffâs Office Crimes Against Persons Unit, Special Victims Unit, and Narcotics Investigations Unit investigated the sale and possession of illegal fireworks. Then during the July 4th holiday weekend, KCSO seized 4,392 lbs of fireworks along with over $4,000 tied to illegal sales.

St. Joseph County police are still investigating a shooting at Castle Point Apartments in which a 10-year-old girl was shot in the jaw.
County detectives continue to search for suspects, but have not determined if the shooting was accidental or not.
Officers were first called to the Castle Point Apartment complex off Cleveland Road around 9:30 p.m. Saturday for reports of a girl who had been shot.
The 10-year-old suffered a bullet wound to her jaw and was taken to the hospital for treatment and was conscious and alert. The girl is still in the hospital in good condition, according to department spokesman Troy Warner.
