Two more Marion businesses receive covid relief

Feb 4, 2021 MARION State Senator Marc Pacheco announced on Jan. 28 that two more Marion businesses Kate’s Simple Eats and A.B.R Vending, Inc. will receive covid aid through the Small Business Grant Program.  Kate’s Simple eats will receive $40,000 and A.B.R Vending will receive $10,000 in aid.  The grants come as part of a $750,000 round of relief from the state, and follows three other rounds of relief totaling over $3 million.  “Since the COVID-19 Small Business Grant Program began in December 72 local businesses in the district I represent have been selected to receive a total of over $3.7 Million, these funds will go a long way in helping them to remain viable,” Pacheco said in a press release. “I am very pleased that they have been selected to receive these funds.”

City of Killeen offering small business grants

An online application system is now available, and qualifying businesses can get up to $8,000. To qualify, a small business must be operating under posted business hours in a retail store front location in the corporate city limits of Killeen, according to a news release from the city of Killeen. The business must have five or fewer employees including the owners, and one owner must be at least 18 years old and hold 51% or more ownership in the business. Funding is limited and will be granted on a first come, first served basis. Funding for this program is made available through a direct allocation to the city of Killeen with federal coronavirus aid funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Community Development Block Grant. All funding considerations are subject to federal regulatory and statutory requirements.

Charlie Baker announced that more than 35,000 new COVID-19 vaccination appointments would go live Thursday at sites across the state, but added that many of them have already been booked. The new appointments included 20,000 at the Fenway Park and Gillette Stadium mass vaccination sites, he said, all of which are already spoken for. Another 15,000 vaccination appointments were added at mass vaccination sites in Danvers and Springfield, and those were still in the process of being booked as of midday Thursday. While cases are rising, so is the struggle to sign up to get a coronavirus vaccine in Massachusetts.
