Joe Biden predicts 500K coronavirus deaths, but help is on the way

Mr. Biden signed a series of executive orders that set up a pandemic testing board, mandated masks on interstate travel and ordered the Occupational Safety and Health Administration to release clearer guidance for businesses to prevent the spread of the virus. He also said foreign travelers entering the country will have to quarantine upon arrival, in addition to testing negative, and he will give scientists a bigger platform at the White House. The plan, he said, “is based on science, not politics. It’s based on truth, not denial.” The blueprint leans heavily on the Defense Production Act, a Korean War-era law that let presidents marshal private industry to manufacture critical supplies.

GOP Reps Condemn Keystone Cancellation, as Dems Stay Silent

GOP Reps Condemn Keystone Cancellation as Dems Stay Silent President Joe Biden’s cancellation of the Keystone XL Pipeline construction permit approved by his predecessor is drawing heavy fire from congressional Republicans. “President Biden’s decision to rescind an essential permit for the Keystone XL pipeline puts thousands of present and future union jobs at risk and undermines the trust of our friends and allies in Canada who have invested billions of dollars into the completion of this vital pipeline,” House Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) said in a joint statement with Reps. Markwayne Mullin (R-Okla.) and Jeff Duncan (R-S.C.).

Fischbach faces challenges as a loyal Trump ally

Copy shortlink: WASHINGTON – Michelle Fischbach s first major vote in Congress sought to overturn the 2020 presidential election. The newly elected Republican representing western Minnesota s Seventh Congressional District voted not to certify the Electoral College votes of two states. She did so just hours after a mob incited by President Donald Trump s false claims of a stolen election stormed into the Capitol, attacking police and attempting to break into the Senate and the House, where Fischbach voted. This election was shrouded in allegations of irregularities and fraud too voluminous to ignore, said Fischbach in a statement issued before the attack on the Capitol, calling for a proper investigation of unproven fraud claims that have been dismissed by dozens of federal courts. She declined to be interviewed for this story.
