Wednesday, interrupting a joint congressional hearing to count and confirm the electoral college’s votes in the 2020 General Election that resulted President-elect Joe Biden’s victory over President Trump. Lawmakers Plan Hybrid Approach Rather Than Fully Remote Legislative Session

Lawmakers Plan Hybrid Approach Rather Than Fully Remote Legislative Session It’s been clear that the 2021 legislative session at the Montana Capitol will look different amid the COVID-19 pandemic, but it wasn’t clear how different until Wednesday. Republican state lawmakers are planning an in-person session, rejecting mask requirements and allowing lawmakers the option to tune in remotely. Lawmakers were offered four options by legislative staff this year: to hold the session all in-person; one of two hybrid models; or to hold it fully remote. The Joint House and Senate Rules Committee voted along party lines Wednesday for the hybrid option.

MT Republicans won t require public-health guidelines for 2021 legislative session

MT Republicans won’t require public-health guidelines for 2021 legislative session But will create Covid-19 response panel By: Mike Dennison and last updated 2020-12-16 20:35:57-05 HELENA — Legislative Republicans Wednesday rejected proposals to hold the 2021 Legislature remotely, or to require lawmakers to wear face masks or follow other public-health guidelines when they meet at the Capitol next month. Instead, majority Republicans endorsed the creation of a partisan “leadership response panel” that will react to any Covid-19 crises during the session, which is scheduled to begin Jan. 4. The panel, controlled by Republicans, would have the power to restrict in-person access at the Legislature, offer Covid-19 testing or enforce “relevant social-distancing measures.”
