Boys & Girls Club Announces 49th Annual ‘Bubbles & Bids’ Auction
The Boys & Girls Club of the Santa Clarita Valley has announced their 49th annual Bubbles & Bids Auction, scheduled to take place June 5.
The Bubbles & Bids virtual event hosted by the Boys & Girls Club is set to take place at 7 p.m. on June 5 and feature a live and silent auction, with proceeds going towards club programs.
“As we look ahead, and start to come out of our bubbles, we hope you will join us in supporting Santa Clarita’s youth,” said Matt Nelson, CEO of Boys & Girls Club of Santa Clarita Valley. “We kept programs and services going over the last year, meeting each challenge along the way.”
Each Spring Break the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Clarita Valley provides a vital service to working parents and guardians by extending its hours and offering a safe place for children to play and learn.
During the pandemic, the Boys & Girls Club has provided in-person distance learning support to small groups of children at McGrath and Newhall elementary schools, and now for Spring Break the Club is offering those same students the opportunity to continue exploring the arts, be active, and have fun with all the health and safety protocols on the two campuses.
There is a nominal fee for the Spring Break program. The cost is just $50, but it can still be a barrier for some families, especially those with more than one child. So, when Rotary Satellite Club of SCV reached out to the Boys & Girls Club inquiring on ways they could help, the staff at the Boys & Girls Club had an answer.

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health on Sunday confirmed two additional cases of COVID-19 variant B.1.1.7 (U.K. variant), bringing the county’s total of variant cases to 14.
The U.K. variant is known to spread more easily and quickly than other variants and is circulating in the state and county.
In January 2021, scientists from the U.K. reported evidence that suggests the B.1.1.7 variant may be associated with an increased risk of death compared with other variants. More studies are needed to confirm this finding.
It is crucial for everyone to keep at least six feet of distance from others and to wear a mask whenever around people that don’t live with them. These measures limit the spread of the virus and known variants and can reduce the likelihood of a surge in cases due to the variant.
The Boys & Girls Club of Santa Clarita Valley recently made a special delivery of 120 handmade Valentine’s Day cards to Sunrise Senior Living on McBean Parkway.
The cards were made by club members in the week leading up to Valentine’s Day for Sunrise’s 120 residents. They were delivered Friday by Club Board Member, Matt Carpenter, and Club Staff, Ali Campbell.
Since the COVID-19 pandemic, children and seniors have been hit the hardest. Children have experienced physical and social isolation with schools moving to virtual learning environments. Seniors, the most vulnerable segment of our population, have also significantly limited or eliminated their in-person interactions due to the outsized risk to their health. The gesture of spreading messages of love and kindness from kids to seniors proved beneficial to both parties.
