SEVIERVILLE â This time, the blankets are for humans.
Members of the Sevier County chapter of the Bearded Sinners have previously gathered blankets, pet food and other supplies for Sevier Animal Care Center. Theyâre working now to collect items that will be donated to Smoky Mountain Area Rescue Ministries.
Bearded Sinners is a nationwide service organization, and the local chapter now has 12 members.
âWe like to do the animal shelter stuff,â said member Douglas Pope, adding that the group seeks out a variety of nonprofits for their monthly service projects.
The Bearded Sinners have provided pizza for the youngsters who attend the Pigeon Forge branch of Boys & Girls Club of the Smoky Mountains.
Ober Gatlinburg President Bruce Anders Passes Away Tuesday, January 12, 2021
Mr. Anders served as president of the family-owned and operated business since 2009.
Mr. Anders first began his career at Ober Gatlinburg, Inc. on Sept. 16, 1992 and worked in many capacities during his 29-year tenure. He was elected the third president of Ober Gatlinburg, Inc. on April 1, 2009 following in the footsteps of brother, Cy, and father, Claude Anders, company founder.
Mr. Anders’ hands-on style of management had him involved in every aspect of day to day operations. It also gave him a deep appreciation for the employees.
Mr. Anders served as vice president of the Southeast Ski Areas Association. He was an avid supporter of the Boys & Girls Club of the Smoky Mountains and an advocate for Tennessee Special Olympics, which holds their winter games at Ober Gatlinburg each year.
SEVIERVILLE â Ole Smoky Distillery is a major supporter of the Santa Fund each year, but this year the company outdid itself, donating $45,000 to the cause which helps members of the Boys & Girls Club of the Smoky Mountains and local senior citizens.
âWe at Ole Smoky are very pleased to be able to provide the donation to the Santa Fund. This yearâs amount of $45,000 is a record high, which we feel is very appropriate given the hardships that many people are feeling at this time with the pandemic and its economic consequences,â CEO Robert Hall said.
âWe know the money will be put to good use and we are proud to be contributing to our community in this way.â
