COVID-19 Cases Continue To Increase In Pennsylvania (Harrisburg, PA)   Positive COVID-19 cases are continuing to increase in Pennsylvania. The Pennsylvania Department of Health announced more than 35-hundred new cases yesterday. This brings the state s current total of active cases to nearly 615-thousand. Almost six-thousand people are hospitalized statewide due to the coronavirus, which is double what the state had in spring. U.S. Attorney David Freed Announces Resignation (Harrisburg, PA)   U.S. Attorney David Freed is going to resign on New Year s Day. Freed announced his resignation yesterday after he has served about three years as the chief federal law enforcement officer for the Middle District of Pennsylvania. First Assistant U.S. Attorney Bruce Brandler is going to take over the position after Freed s leave. Brandler has been a member of the office for over 30 years and served as U.S. Attorney from 2016 to 2017.

At the wheel of the Route 18 bus, Denise Smith, 64, departed Lancaster’s Queen Street Station with two riders at 12:10 p.m. Friday on a run to Elizabethtown that would prove routine in every way but one: it was her last after 41 years. A pleasant, reserved woman, wearing a scarf, gray fleece and black facemask, Smith kept to a tight schedule on a winding, two-hour, 45-mile roundtrip through snow-blanketed Landisville and Mount Joy to Elizabethtown’s Amtrak station. Then she headed back the same way to Lancaster. All told, she transported 10 riders. “Be safe out there,” said one as he got off in Mount Joy with a companion who used a walker.

Travel restricted on Route 283 as snowstorm hits Lancaster County; winter storm warning still in effect through Thursday morning

December 17 10 a.m. The City of Lancaster announced that the snow emergency will be lifted at 10 a.m. Residents will have until 7 p.m. Thursday to move their cars from free parking garages or will be subjected to paid parking, according to an email from the city.  The Steinman Parking Garage at 35 S. Prince Street, owned by Colonial Parking, will be open until noon Friday, Dec. 18. Vehicles may not return to the snow emergency routes until after the snow emergency has been lifted.
