LeadingHôtelières is founded by CEO and President of the prestigious HoteliersGuild community, Frank M Pfaller, and co-founded by Lindsey Ueberroth, CEO at Preferred Hotels & Resorts. Considerate Group Founding Partner, Xenia zu Hohenlohe, leads as Chairwoman for the inaugural year and is joined by co-chair Associate Professor of Management at the leading Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL), Dr Sowon Kim.

This year Travel Weekly honored five people with Lifetime Achievement Awards: Brad and Van Anderson, the founders of Avoya Travel; Jackie Friedman, the president of Nexion Travel Group; and Beatrice and Stanley Tollman, the husband-and-wife team who founded the Travel Corporation.

Brothers Brad and Van Anderson are the co-founders of Avoya Travel, a family-owned business that traces its roots to a Hawaiian travel company. Van got started in the travel industry when his parents, Pat and Pal, had him stickering brochures for that firm; Brad began his career in travel in 1973 working for his parents’ retail agency in California.

Red Carnation Hotels announced the opening of Xigera Safari Lodge on Dec. 1 in the Okavango Delta, Botswana.
Located on the western side of the Moremi Game Reserve, Xigera is the dream project of the South African hoteliers, the Tollman family. The lodge is named after the Xigera, the pied kingfisher that makes its home in the watery channels of the reserve.

The lodge sleeps a maximum of 24 guests in 12 individually designed suites, including one family suite. Each suite is designed to reflect the environment and features a deck with uninterrupted views of the flood plain. The Xigera Family Suite consists of two bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, dressing area and outdoor shower. These bedrooms are joined by a shared lounge area that opens onto a deck. A who s who of the travel industry the CEOs of the three largest cruise companies, leaders of prominent travel agency groups, leisure supplier executives and the chief of a Big Three airline will be featured during the free, virtual Readers Choice Awards event this Thursday, Dec. 17, beginning at 2 p.m. Eastern (11 a.m. Pacific).
