Beijing using US newspapers to push insidious narratives, says China affairs expert

He made the warning during a Dec. 3 interview in The Epoch Times’ American Thought Leaders program. Chang told program host Jan Jekielek that the Chinese regime makes use of paid inserts to promote “insidious narratives.” The advertorials, called China Watch, were paid for by Chinese state-run English language paper China Daily. They typically contain articles with a pro-Beijing slant that tackle U.S.-China relations, the Chinese economy and Chinese culture. According to Chang, the China Watch inserts allow the regime to propagate its own narratives to American readers.

PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF CHINA DONATES FJD 420,000 FJD TO PM’S RELIEF FUND 30/12/2020 The Government of the People’s Republic of China donated $420,000 Fijian Dollars to the Prime Minister’s National Disaster Relief and Rehabilitation Fund for TC Yasa.   The cheque was presented this morning by the Chinese Ambassador to Fiji, Mr Qian Bo to the Honourable Prime Minister, Josaia Voreqe Bainimarama.   On behalf of the Fijian Government and the people of Fiji, PM Bainimarama thanked the Government of the People’s Republic of China and the Chinese people for the timely assistance.    Reflecting on the longstanding bilateral relations between the two nations, PM Bainimarama conveyed Fiji’s appreciation to the People’s Republic of China for its support towards Fiji’s rebuilding efforts and response to families and communities affected by TC Yasa.
