For fear of opening a Pandora’s Box, I will leave this at that and redirect our discourse elsewhere. On Valentine Day, President Lazarus Chakwera gifted us a bouquet of roses in the form of his first serious statement of intent vis-à-vis reforming our ineffective, self-serving, and generally corrupt public dis-service, which, if truth be told, is the cause of our endemic misery. Now, as one Kahlin Gibran noted, roses divide opinions; while optimists appreciate roses’ beauty, in the same roses, pessimists see only thorns.

Daily Post Nigeria Published Mrs Odiyo takes over from Mrs Deborah Ogunmola. Until her appointment, Mrs. Odiyo was the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, Kogi State. Her appointment was confirmed in a statement issued to journalists in Lokoja on Thursday, by the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs Folashade Arike Ayoade. The statement reads “His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has approved the appointment of Mrs. Hannah Onyinoyi Odiyo as the Head of Civil Service of Kogi State. “His Excellency thanked Elder (Mrs.) Deborah Ogunmola, the outgoing Head of Civil Service for her forthrightness and contributions to the Civil Service Reforms in the State while in Office.

Organized labour reacts to appointment of new Head of Service in Kogi

Daily Post Nigeria Published The organized Labour in Kogi State has lauded Governor Yahaya Bello for appointing Mrs. Hannah Onyinoyi Odiyo as the new Head of Civil Service. Speaking to DAILY POST on Thursday through a telephone interview, the State Chairman, Nigeria Labour Congress, (NLC), Comrade Onuh Edoka and the State Chairman, Trade Union Congress, (TUC), Comrade Ranti Ojo both described the appointment of Mrs Odiyo as a victory for Kogi workers. The labour leaders, while congratulating Odiyo for her new appointment, promised to cooperate and work harmoniously with her to achieve success in her tenure in office. According to them, the Governor further demonstrated his government’s commitment towards the 35 percent affirmative action for women in the State as stated in United Nation resolution in Beijing.
