Injured business owner owes $9,600 to ICBC after being caught back at work

A business owner who was injured in a 2019 crash will have to repay about $9,600 in accident benefits after he was caught misleading ICBC about whether he had returned to work.

Man wins lawsuit after ICBC found him half-responsible for other driver running red light

VANCOUVER A B.C. driver who was found equally responsible after someone allegedly ran a red light and crashed into his pickup truck has been awarded nearly $8,000 in damages. Christian Pedersen took his case to the province s small claims court after ICBC investigators were unable to determine who was to blame for the collision, instead finding both drivers 50 per cent liable. The Civil Resolution Tribunal ultimately determined Pedersen was not responsible at all. The crash happened on the morning of April 6, 2020, while Pedersen was driving his pickup down 122nd Street in Surrey. As he was passing through the 72nd Avenue intersection, a sedan driven by Gursimran Makkar slammed into the front corner of his truck.

Lawsuit against noisy neighbours nets frustrated B C condo owners $2,500 in damages

VANCOUVER Loud music and lively conversations have cost two B.C. condo owners upwards of $2,500 after they were sued by their downstairs neighbours over many nights of disrupted sleep. In a ruling posted online last week, the province s Civil Resolution Tribunal found Seyed Mohsen Hashemi Sefat and Hirad Abbaspour liable for unreasonable noise coming from their unit between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m. on 16 different nights from February through August 2020. Downstairs neighbours Yang Chu and Felix Tan said the racket coming from the home was sometimes so loud, they were forced to go sleep at a relative s place. While Sefat and Abbaspour denied causing a nuisance, the tribunal noted that their neighbours came equipped with thorough evidence that included several sound recordings, emails to the property manager written when the noise was observed, text messages with the respondents about the noise while it was happening, and statements from other strata residents.
