The bodies were recovered from the river of Shitalakkhya in Narayanganj district, about 20 km from Dhaka. Another five missing bodies were recovered on Tuesday, Mina Mahmuda, a senior police official in Narayanganj, told journalists. With the recovery of the bodies, he said the death toll of Sunday s ferry sinking accident rose to 34. Two more people are still reportedly missing. Ershad Hossain, senior duty officer of the Fire Service and Civil Defence Headquarters, had earlier told Xinhua that the passenger vessel, ML Sabit Al Hasan, carrying around some 50 passengers on board, capsized after it was hit by a cargo vessel in the river at around 6:00 p.m. local time Sunday.
