Citizen shoots robber dead July 28, 2021 A suspected robber was shot dead and another wounded by a citizen on Rashid Minhas Road on Tuesday. According to Yousuf Plaza SHO Imran Khan, two suspects riding a motorcycle intercepted a car and snatched valuables from the owner of a rent-a-car service. When the robbers were fleeing after the robbery, the citizen opened fire on them, injuring both the suspects. The suspects were taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where Asad succumbed to his injuries while Ameer Khan remained under treatment. A large number of people gathered on the spot and tortured the robbers until police reached the scene and took them into custody. HYDERABAD: One thing that is lost sight of in recent July 22 Akbari mosque transformer tragedy is ad-hoc management of entire burns ward by untrained staff in Liaquat University Hospital (LUH) of Hyderabad. The ward’s doctors and staff hardly manage burn patients with 20pc or above burn wounds. And that was why patients with over 25pc burn wounds of total body surface area (TBSA) are instantly advised to leave for Karachi. Information obtained by Dawn revealed that all critically injured were referred to Karachi in the recent two tragedies in which two children and a young man died as a result of June 18 fire in a transformer in Islamabad Mohalla and then seven persons, including two children, breathed their last in Karachi after July 22 Akbari mosque transformer blast.

Number of hospitalised Covid patients in Karachi reaches highest level after June 2020 July 25, 2021 During the previous 24 hours, the number of Covid-19 patients hospitalised in Karachi reached its highest level since June last year with the test positivity rate at 23.46 per cent. Federal and provincial health officials provided this information on Saturday. They said a total of 144 people diagnosed with Covid-19 were taken to various hospitals in Sindh during the previous 24 hours and 129 of them were admitted to different hospitals in Karachi. “Karachi faced the highest number of hospitalisation since June 2020 as 129 patients with severe Covid-19 illness were admitted to different public and private hospitals,” an official of the National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination (NHS,R&C) told The News while quoting the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) data.
