New Delhi, Dec 21 : The Union Health Ministry on Monday said that those coming from the UK, which is facing the emergence of a new and highly infectious strain of coronavirus, will be tested at the airports and if found positive, will be sent for institutional quarantine set up by the states and union territories.

India today announced suspension of all flights to and from the United Kingdom from December 23 to December 31 in the wake of a mutated rapidly-spreading strain of coronavirus in that country. Considering the prevailing situation in UK, the government of India has decided that all flights originating from UK to India to be suspended till 31st December, the Civil Aviation Ministry said. Consequently, flights from India to UK shall stand temporarily suspended till 31st December, it said, our New Delhi correspondent reports.

Noida airport: When will the first flight take off
Noida will soon have an airport. The ambitious project approved by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is being built in Jewar area along the Yamuna Expressway in the Gautam Buddh Nagar district. The airport is being developed by Switzerland-headquartered private firm Zurich Airport International AG while the NIAL, a nodal agency floated by the state government, will monitor the project s development.Â
The Noida International Airport will have two runways and a capacity for handling 12 million passengers per annum in the first phase.
Eventually, it will have five runways and a passenger capacity of 70 million a year when completed at an estimated to cost Rs 29,560 crore in total, according to officials.

Work on the upcoming Noida International Airport is progressing as scheduled and the first flight is expected to take off by December 2023 or January 2024, a senior government executive said on Sunday.
Also, the resettlement and rehabilitation of over three thousand families who are getting displaced due to the mega greenfield project is likely to be completed by May 2021, Noida International Airport Limited (NIAL) CEO Arun Vir Singh said.
