DUBAI: Bahrain suspended entry of travelers from countries on its ‘red list,’ which includes India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Nepal, from May 24.
The decision by the country’s Civil Aviation Affairs was based on recommendations from its National Medical Taskforce for Combatting the Coronavirus, the Bahrain News Agency reported.
Bahraini citizens and residency visa holders are not covered by the new rule, but will have to provide a PCR test before boarding a plane and quarantine for 10 days upon their return.
Passengers arriving from countries not included on the red list are exempted from quarantine and PCR tests if they can present a Bahrain-accredited vaccination certificate.

Colombo [Sri Lanka], May 24 (ANI): Bahrain has announced the suspension of entry for travellers arriving from five South Asian countries from Monday amid the COVID-19 surge.
According to Colombo Page, Bahrain s Civil Aviation Affairs has announced the suspension of entry for travelers arriving from red list countries, namely - India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal - on all flights starting from today.
The measure has been taken in line with Government Executive Committee directives and based on the recommendations of the National Medical Taskforce for Combatting the coronavirus.
Bahraini citizens and residency visa holders are not subject to the suspension but will have to present an approved PCR test certificate conducted no more than 48 hours prior to boarding and undertake another PCR test on arrival and on the tenth day of stay.

Bahraini citizens and residency visa holders are not covered by the suspension, but will have to provide a PCR test before boarding a plane and quarantine for 10 days upon arrival, BNA added.
Bahrain will also apply precautionary 10-day quarantine to vaccinated and non-vaccinated individuals from all other countries, in their homes or in places licensed for quarantining, BNA added.
Follow RT on Bahrain has seen its highest daily death toll since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, with the country s health ministry saying on Monday that 23 more people had succumbed to the disease in the small island nation.
The number of fatalities more than doubled compared to Sunday, when 11 deaths were reported.
Bahrain, which is populated by some 1.7 million people, has so far registered more than 218,000 confirmed Covid-19 cases and over 800 deaths related to the virus.
In an attempt to curb the spike in infections that began mid-May, the Gulf state has suspended travelers from its so-called ‘Red List’ of countries, including India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nepal, starting from Monday.
