Seagate Technology on Wednesday announced the launch of its Seagate Storage Expansion Card for Microsoft’s latest gaming consoles, the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S in India.
The Storage Expansion Card will deliver an additional 1 TB of external storage for the gaming consoles.
Replicating the speed and performance of the consoles’ internal SSDs and Xbox Velocity Architecture, the external storage device has been designed in collaboration with Microsoft, Seagate said.
The Seagate Expansion Card helps users to “achieve the same performance as the Xbox Velocity Architecture when playing games that have been optimised for next-generation of Xbox consoles,” it said.

Seagate has announced that it is launching the Seagate Storage Expansion Card for the Xbox Series X and Series S gaming consoles in India. This storage expansion card can help one increase the storage capacity of their consoles.
This storage expansion card will be available at an introductory price of Rs 22,999 starting 8th February till 14th February, after which it will be priced at Rs 23,499. This pricing is substantially higher than the US pricing where the device is priced at $220 (approx Rs 16,250).

The Seagate Storage Expansion Card is different from attaching an external hard drive. For starters, the expansion card gets its own special slot on the back of the consoles. Further, the external drive only allows users to play backwards compatible games with no added benefits in terms of performance. In order to make use of the Xbox Series X and Series S’ faster load times, players will have to transfer games between the external drive and the console’s internal SSD.
