Alaska Airlines has taken delivery of its first Boeing 737 Max aircraft as it begins to streamline its fleet, in an effort to improve overall efficiency and profitability.
The Seattle-headquartered airline says on 25 January that it has scheduled the first revenue flight with the new aircraft, which carries the tail number N913AK, on 1 March. It will fly daily round-trips between Seattle and San Diego, as well as on the Seattle-Los Angeles route.

KING COUNTY, Wash. A girl from Denver has been identified as one of the victims of Washington state s infamous Green River Killer.
Wendy Stephens was 14 years old when she ran away from her home in Denver in 1983, the King County Sheriff s Office (KCSO) said. Stephens remains were found in 1984 in an area that is now part of Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.
Stephens was one of four of Gary Ridgway s victims who had not been identified. Stephens is believed to be Ridgway s youngest victim, according to the KCSO.
Sound Transit tests trains on Northgate Link light rail ahead of September opening KING 5 Staff

People in north Seattle are a step closer to being able to hop on the Link light rail and go downtown or to the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.
Sound Transit announced it started testing trains for the first time Monday on the new elevated light rail tracks in Northgate. The trains are testing the overhead electrical power system that runs through the Northgate line.
Passenger service to and from Northgate is expected to open in September.
The testing will continue for several months, mostly during morning hours, according to Sound Transit. While most of the line is underground, drivers on I-5 will likely notice the trains at Northgate.

When the families of those who died in the crash of Alaska Flight 261 were brought out to the spot in the ocean where their loved ones fell from the sky, they knew to expect the worst: Shock and sorrow. Disbelief.
What they didn’t expect were the dolphins; tens of them, circling the crash site. They had been there since the night of crash, eight miles off the coast of Port Humene, Calif. on Jan. 31, 2000. Eighty-eight people died 83 passengers, three flight attendants and two pilots most of them headed home to Seattle after vacationing in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
