With Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan not seeking reelection this year, more and more people are signaling their intent to vie for leadership of the Emerald City. One of those potential candidates has some serious history on his resumé – his grandfather was mayor and then governor 80 years ago.
Art Langlie is in his early 50s. His grandfather – with the same name – was on the city council, and then became mayor of Seattle in the late 1930s.
Even as our transportation future remains in flux, there are lessons to be learned from our past.

Recent earthquakes in the region might have Seattleites feeling a bit on edge. After all, the experts have been warning us all that “we’re due” for the Big One.
Most recently, a pair of quakes struck off the coast of Oregon late Monday and early Tuesday. A 5.7 magnitude earthquake was measured 127 miles west of Bandon, according to OregonLive. About three hours later, a 3.2 magnitude earthquake was measured 115 miles west of the community of Langlois.
