Jeaux Rinedahl who teaches in SPU’s Lydia Green Nursing Program in the School of Health Sciences and has nearly 40 years of experience in the health care industry alleged in the lawsuit that when he applied for a full-time, tenured position as an associate nursing professor, the university rejected his application because he’s gay.

A gay nursing instructor employed at Seattle Pacific University, a Christian educational institution, is suing the university for allegedly denying him a full-time position because he is married to a man. Jéaux Rinedahl, a part-time nursing instructor, has worked as an adjunct professor at SPU since last year. Despite being gay and married to a man, Rinedahl is a Christian who says he agrees with the school’s religious philosophy, as well as its marketing of itself as an “inclusive” Christian institution.
