U.S. crude oil production down last week: EIA

HOUSTON, June 3 (Xinhua) U.S. crude oil production decreased during the week ending May 28, the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) said Thursday. According to the EIA, U.S. crude oil production averaged 10.8 million barrels per day (b/d) last week, 200,000 barrels less than the previous week and down by 400,000 b/d from this time last year. The United States has become a major oil producer in the past years with the help of its shale oil production growth. Meanwhile, China continues to be one of the world s biggest oil consumers.

China has relaxed its family planning policy to allow couples to have a maximum of three children after a census showed that its population is rapidly aging, the Xinhua news agency reported yesterday.
For almost 40 years, China enforced a controversial “one-child policy” one of the strictest family planning regulations worldwide which was lifted in 2016 due to widespread concerns over an aging workforce and economic stagnation.

Factory activity in China last month nudged down slightly on slower demand and higher raw material prices, while the services industry boomed over the May 1 Workers’ Day holiday, official data showed yesterday.
The purchasing managers’ index (PMI), a key gauge of China’s manufacturing activity, was 51 slightly down from 51.1 in April, but above the mark separating growth from contraction, the Chinese National Bureau of Statistics said.
