China: Natural Gas Explosion Kills at Least 25, Seriously Wounds 37

The death toll from a gas explosion near a residential community in central China’s Shiyan city on Sunday rose to 25 on Monday as Chinese government authorities continued efforts to rescue and treat survivors of the blast and determine its cause.
“The death toll from the blast in the city of Shiyan, in Hubei province, had stood at 12 on Sunday evening but another 13 victims without vital signs were found as of 12:30 [pm] local time … on Monday,” the state-run China Central Television (CCTV) network reported on June 14, citing an official from Hubei’s emergency management department.

XINING, May 23 (Xinhua) A team dispatched by China s Ministry of Emergency Management (MEM) arrived in the earthquake-hit Qinghai Province in northwest China to guide local rescue work.
At 2:04 a.m. on Saturday, a 7.4-magnitude earthquake jolted Maduo County of the Golog Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in the province.
By 10 p.m. on Saturday, no casualties had been reported in the prefecture, said the MEM team, citing data from the local government.
The earthquake caused 18 injuries in the prefecture. A total of 24,725 people were affected by the disaster, and 8,157 houses collapsed or were damaged, the data shows.
