DOJ charges Zoom employee for helping Chinese government shut down Tiananmen Square commemorations Print this article
A China-based Zoom executive was charged with coordinating with the Chinese government to shut down Zoom meetings in the United States and elsewhere on a host of religious and political topics, including the commemoration of the 31st anniversary of the Tiananmen Square massacre.
Xinjiang Jin, also known as Julien Jin, worked at the behest of China s Ministry of Public Security, according to a complaint unsealed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York on Friday. The Justice Department said he was charged with “conspiracy to commit interstate harassment and unlawful conspiracy to transfer a means of identification” as he worked as Zoom’s “primary liaison with PRC law enforcement and intelligence services.” Jin, who was based in China, is wanted by the FBI, though it is unlikely he would be sent over to the U.S. If tried and convict

Beijing Promotes Political Ideology Through University Programs Geared Toward Belt and Road Countries
Chinese universities are leveraging education programs to promote Beijing’s foreign policy of Belt and Road, as well as Communist Party political ideologies, to students in southeast and central Asia.
The Epoch Times obtained a series of government documents wherein schools detailed their programming for foreign students in applications for central government funding.
The Chinese regime has announced some of these study abroad programs before, but did not provide much detail about the goals and curricula.
The Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), also known as One Belt, One Road, is Beijing’s policy of building infrastructure projects in parts of Asia, Africa, and Europe. Critics have said the projects place developing countries under massive debt and serve as economic pressure to influence governments into agreeing with Beijing’s agenda.
U.S. State Department’s Assistant Secretary David Stilwell recently warned the public:
“Influence and interference operations are fundamental to how the Chinese Communist Party engages with the world.” Through two leaked documents, the rest of the world recently discovered more about how aggressive and extensive the CCP’s influence and interference operations are: a database of CCP members and a secret agreement between Switzerland and Chinese police.
The CCP Member Database
One of the largest newspapers in Australia, The Australian, reported last weekend it obtained a leaked database of nearly two million CCP members, including their national ID number, birth date, and party position. Additionally, the database contains information on almost 80,000 party branches, showing these CCP members are currently working inside international corporations, universities, and even government agencies around the world.
