Published: Monday, January 25, 2021, 19:51 [IST] New Delhi, Jan 25: Military commanders of India and China held extensive deliberations on modalities for disengagement of troops from all the friction points in eastern Ladakh at the ninth round of the military talks that lasted nearly 16 hours, official sources said on Monday. The Corps Commander-level talks at the Moldo border point on the Chinese side of the Line of Actual Control in eastern Ladakh began at around 10:30 AM on Sunday and ended at 2:30 AM on Monday, they said. Detailed discussions were held on modalities for the disengagement process, said a source aware of the negotiations.

Tan Kefei, the spokesperson for the Ministry of National Defense, said at a press conference that since the eighth round of China-India Corps Commander Level Meeting, the two sides have maintained consultations on frontline troop disengagement and strengthened border troops management. The situation in the border areas is generally stable, said Tan. China is willing to maintain communication with India via military and diplomatic channels, Tan stressed, expressing the hope that India will work with China towards the same goal, implement the consensus reached at the meetings, and take practical measures to further abate the tension in border areas.
