Research efforts locate Tianwen 1 probe on Red Planet
Last month, a set of black-and-white photographs of a desolate desert, showing nothing but rocks, dust and craters, lay in front of Wang Yiran, a postdoctoral fellow at Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
At about the same time, China s Tianwen 1 lander was due to touch down in this desert on Mars. Wang s task was to determine the spacecraft s exact location on a planet about half the size of Earth.

BEIJING: China made public several video clips captured by the country’s Tianwen 1 Mars mission, including one with an audio recording that is the first to be released from this historic interplanetary expedition.
The clips, released on Sunday by the China National Space Administration, recorded the processes of the Mars touchdown by Tianwen 1’s landing capsule, the Zhurong rover’s departure from the capsule and its movement on the Red Planet’s soil.
They also provided the first opportunity for people around the world to see a rover in motion on the surface of Mars.
