The Covid-19 pandemic could not stop students, parents and staff of Singapore International School from going ahead with an annual charitable Christmas festival. The event was tweaked this year to adhere to social-distancing rules, but organisers were determined to keep the spirit of giving alive.
The school held its Family Festival virtually for the first time this year, on December 5. Since we couldn t do it face to face, we had to think of new ideas, said Hellen Teo Manning, chairperson of the school s parent-teacher committee.

Hong Kong s first chief executive Tung Chee-hwa was very concerned about feng shui at Government House where governors of the then British colony lived and worked, recently declassified records have revealed.
His concern eventually led to his rejection of the 19th-century mansion as his official residence.
