China Communication Construction Company has completed construction of berth one of the country s second commercial port, while berths two and three will be completed by October, the National Treasury said in a statement on Thursday. The Treasury said the construction of the first phase of the port, comprising three berths, started in 2015, while subsequent phases will be undertaken by the private sector under a public-private partnership framework and eventually result in 23 berths along its 10 km shore length.

The US$166.5 million package of works was awarded by the Kenya National Highways Authority (Kenha) to China Communication Construction Company (CCCC). The project is for work on the 453km route connecting Kenya’s Lamu Port with South Sudan and Ethiopia by road. Building this new road link is of particular important for landlocked South Sudan by providing access to a port. The work will form part of the Lamu Port-South Sudan-Ethiopia-Transport (LAPPSET) Road Project Network.

File Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has awarded a new Ksh17 billion highway project to a Chinese firm. In a special ceremony hosted on Monday, April 19, KeNHA Director General Peter Mundinia signed a tender award to China Communication Construction Company. The company received the Ksh17 billion tender for the construction of Lamu - Ijara - Garissa highway in a period of 36 months. The company was directed to upgrade the highway, which is 196 kilometers long, to all-weather gravel standards.
