LNG-powered CMA CGM Patagonia hits the water
Chinese shipbuilder CSSC Jiangnan Shipyard, a subsidiary of
China State Shipbuilding Corporation, has launched the 15,000 TEU LNG-powered CMA CGM Patagonia, being built for the French container shipping major CMA CGM.
The containership is the first of five LNG-powered sister vessels ordered by the company back in 2019.
CMA CGM Patagonia is scheduled for delivery in mid-August 2021 and will be followed by sister ships: CMA CGM Kimberley, CMA CGM Everglade, CMA CGM Galapagos and CMA CGM Greenland.

China launched the third Type 075 landing helicopter dock (LHD), and second Type-054 frigate ordered by the Pakistan Navy at Hudong-Zhonghua Shipyard today.
Development work on Type 075 helicopter carriers began in 2011. The first and second ships of the class were launched in September 2019 and April 2020 respectively.
In July, China revealed a helicopter (likely Z-8) and an unmanned reconnaissance helicopter model on the ship’s deck which resembled AR500C. It is a new drone that was test-flown for the first time on May 20 last year.

ACCRA, Jan 8 (Reuters) - Ghana has taken delivery of sub-Saharan Africa’s first offshore receiving terminal for liquefied natural gas (LNG), allowing it to start delivering LNG to customers in the first quarter of this year, the terminal’s operator said.
Tema LNG, which is backed by UK-based Helios Investment Partners, said in a statement that a floating regasification unit (FRU) built by a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation arrived in Ghana on Thursday.
Shell will supply the LNG under a long-term contract, and the gas will be delivered to customers of Ghana’s public utility service, it said.
