NAB law being amended in next few weeks: Tarin

July 14, 2021 ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin believes NAB Law will have to be amended, and some developments in this regard are taking place in the next few weeks. Talking in Geo News programme ‘Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Sath’ on Tuesday, he said bureaucracy was not performing well due to the fear of accountability watchdog. He said that earlier LNG was imported from Qatar at 13.7% above the Brent rate, and later on at 10.4% above the Brent rate. Despite such a lower import rate, NAB had summoned the files of the agreement. The minister admitted that the import bill was going up due to increase in oil prices and import of machinery. He said the import bill was expected to reach $5-6 billion if we showed growth.

PPP leader blasts govt for abandoning uplift projects in Chitral July 14, 2021 CHITRAL: Former provincial minister Salim Khan on Tuesday said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government had abandoned the ongoing development projects let alone initiating mega schemes in the Upper Chitral and Lower Chitral districts. “Our both the districts are still faced with backwardness despite the eight years of the PTI government in the province,” he told a press conference here. Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) local activists Engr Fazal Rabi Jan, Alamzeb advocate, Muhammad Hakim advocate, Qazi Faisal and others were also present. Salim Khan, who is also PPP provincial deputy secretary information, said that work on the Garam Chashma and Bamburet roads had been stopped while the two districts of Chitral were excluded from the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project.

However, the KP government has sent a request to the chairman of CPEC Authority to include nine additional projects in the CPEC portfolio. The much-awaited meeting of the JCC has been convened on Friday (July 16) in which the projects will be formally approved. The JCC meeting will be held after a gap of one and a half years, the last JCC meeting was held in November 2019.
