ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday said that Asia-Pacific, including the Indian Ocean, should become a Zone of Peace, an area of expanding cooperation and prosperity through strict adherence to the principles of the UN Charter and the Bandung Principles of peaceful coexistence.
In his virtual address at Nikkei’s 26th conference on ‘Future of Asia – Shaping the post-Covid era: Asia’s role in global recovery,’ he said that Pakistan looked towards serving as a geo-economic hub connecting the economies of Central Asia, South Asia, West Asia and beyond.

Islamabad, May 21 (Prensa Latina) Pakistan s President Arif Alvi and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping pledged to deepen cooperation and achieve high development of the Economic Corridor between the two countries, it was reported on Friday. This was expressed in letters of congratulation exchanged by the two leaders on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic relations, Radio Pakistan reported.
The Chinese president said in his letter that the two nations are strategic cooperation partners that have stood firm to each other on issues of fundamental interests and great concerns.
