PHOTO: FILE ISLAMABAD: The government on Monday cleared two new development projects worth Rs196.5 billion, including the Hyderabad-Sukkur motorway at a cost of Rs191.5 billion aimed at completing a major missing link of the eastern corridor that connects Gwadar and Karachi ports. The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) approved one project worth Rs5 billion and recommended the mega scheme of Hyderabad-Sukkur motorway worth Rs191.5 billion to the Executive Committee of National Economic Council (Ecnec) for further consideration, said the Ministry of Planning and Development.

During a meeting between the minister and Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Nong Rong, Pakistan-China economic relations, implementation of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects and other matters of mutual interest were discussed. The minister praised the government of China for supporting infrastructure and energy projects in Pakistan. Ayub emphasised that after the development of necessary infrastructure, the focus should turn towards industrialisation and poverty alleviation.

Daily Times April 27, 2021 ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Tuesday said Pakistan was in the midst of a “more aggressive third wave” with higher positivity rate and called for greater international solidarity to overcome the aftermath of pandemic. “The crisis is far from over…. We need the right mix of national actions, regional collaboration, and multilateral cooperation,” he said in his address at the Six-country Foreign Ministers’ Video Conference on COVID-19. The conference hosted by State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi of China was joined by the Ministers of Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka.   MULTAN, April 27 (Gwadar Pro)―Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday afternoon said that the government had sought support from Iron Brother China to boost the country’s agriculture.   Speaking at a Kisan (farmer) card distribution ceremony here, the PM said the agriculture sector was being linked with the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project for development.   “Farmers are the backbone of the country. Pakistan is heading towards modern agriculture, and the use of new technology will help curb corruption in the sector. We have sought support from China in the field of agriculture, he said.   He stated that the government was taking help from the private sector to facilitate the farming community and carry out experiments to boost agriculture. The premier highlighted that the government will provide relief to farmers in case the crops are destroyed.
