Photos: Waltham Forest Council A dead pigeon, mice droppings in food packaging and rat infestations are just some of the reasons three Waltham Forest food businesses have been closed by court order. Following investigations by Waltham Forest Council’s hygiene inspectors Bengal Curry House, Phoenix Chinese Takeaway and a food warehouse in Leyton have been slapped with closure orders until officers are satisfied hygiene standards are met. Officers found evidence of a rat infestation at Bengal Curry House in St James Street, Walthamstow during an inspection last month.

Over 2t of fresh meat was found to be cut and packed from the workshop of a carwash in Wiltshire in the UK.
Environmental health officers from Wiltshire Council’s food and safety team were sent to remove over 2t of fresh meat, including beef, lamb and goat meat from sale to the public.
They found the meat being cut and packed for delivery throughout the UK in a second hand car wash premises in Ludgershall.
The council’s officers, working with a Food Standards Agency (FSA) veterinary officer, searched the business at 23 Andover Road under warrant on November 27 and found whole and part carcases again being cut in poor conditions, which exposed the meat to the risk of contamination.

Over two tonnes of fresh meat has been removed from a Wiltshire car wash premises which was operating as an illegal butchers.

They found the meat being cut and packed for delivery to be sent across the UK.
Whole and part carcases were being cut in poor conditions , exposing the meat to the risk of contamination.
AN ILLEGAL meat processing plant has been raided and shut down by the council, the Advertiser can reveal. The business, running from a second-hand car wash on Andover Road in Ludgershall, was supplying tonnes of meat each week across the UK. Officers from Wiltshire District Council stormed the property on Friday, November 27 after fears were raised over the hygiene standards of the meat carcasses. They seized 2.4 tonnes of meat, including beef, lamb and goat meat, from the car wash. This is the second raid of its kind in the last two months. Environmental health officers from Wiltshire Council’s Food and Safety team first raided Devizes Hand Car Wash at 12-18 New Park Street on October 23, where they witnessed fresh meat being cut in a vehicle workshop in grossly unhygienic conditions.
