More support is needed for health staff who are at risk of psychological harm as a result of being involved in patient safety incidents, a new report has warned.
Those behind the investigation stressed that offering the “best level of support” to staff was also the key to improving patient safety across the NHS.

The Healthcare Safety Investigation Branch (HSIB) made recommendations to help employers develop programmes of support for health workers involved in such incidents.
The body s report is based on an investigation it carried out that looked at evidence from relevant research and the experiences of NHS staff that it gained through interviews and focus groups.
