A retired lieutenant colonel who serves as a volunteer helicopter pilot in Limestone County has reunited with an âold Army buddyâ from his training days more than 32 years ago.
In 2019, Robert Spuhl of Harvest was invited to join the Limestone County Sheriffâs Office to help fly the OH-58C helicopter that was donated as part of the 1033 program that supplies law enforcement agencies with surplus military equipment.
âThe FAA tail number is â44 Lima Charley.â I recognized the original registration number during a maintenance records check as âan old Army friendâ I flew in flight school at Fort Rucker more than three decades ago,â he said.
