Tennessee woman, 2-year-old daughter die in Alabama mobile home fire

A woman ran back into a burning Limestone County mobile home in an effort to rescue her 2-year-old daughter early this morning, authorities said, but both the mother and child died in the blaze.
Jeffrey Branson and the 32-year-old woman made it out of the mobile home at 28746 Jennings Chapel Road off East Limestone Road, according to the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office, but the woman went back in. The names of the woman, from Prospect, Tennessee, and her daughter had not been released as of late Wednesday afternoon.

A police chase on State Highway 14 toward Mexia Friday evening ended with 2 suspects apprehended.
On Friday, January 29, 2021, around 6:05 p.m., an officer with the Groesbeck Police Department initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 1300 block of North Ellis Street for a speeding violation.
The vehicle failed to yield and began evading at a high rate of speed, according to police.
The officer initiated a pursuit traveling north on State Highway 14 toward Mexia.
State troopers responded to assist and successfully deployed spike strips south of Mexia.

A man is charged in Limestone County for stealing catalytic converters from church vehicles.
Brandon Oneal Mitchell, 22, of Ardmore was arrested Friday for thefts at Tanner Baptist Church on Dec. 29 and Sardis Springs Church on Jan. 16. The Limestone County Sheriff’s Office says he confessed to the crimes.
Mitchell is charged with breaking and entering a vehicle and theft third degree. He was on probation at the time of his arrest, and it’s been revoked.
Authorities looking for Huntsville woman missing since early December

Authorities say they are looking for a Huntsville woman has been missing for about a month.
Jacqueline Nicole Cheatham, 38, was last reported seen leaving her residence on Dec. 4, 2020. She may have been traveling in a white 2008 Mazda 31 Touring Sedan with a black hood, Alabama tag 9508AC0. She has also stayed in the Fayetteville, Tenn., area.
Cheatham, also known as Jackie Harris, is described as standing 5 feet 4 inches tall, weighing 120 pounds, with blue eyes and brown hair.
