Zimbabwe celebrated 41 years of independence yesterday with President Mnangagwa calling on Zimbabweans to be inspired by the occasion to preserve the gains of the liberation struggle.
This year’s truncated event was held at State House in line with Covid-19 containment regulations.
Cabinet ministers, senior Government officials, service chiefs, traditional leaders and members of opposition political parties attended the event but there was no participation by the general public at State House with the majority of Zimbabweans locally and abroad following on television or online
The celebrations were held under the theme: “Zimbabwe at 41: Together, Growing our Economy for a Prosperous, Resilient and Inclusive Society”.

ZIMBABWE has begun to enjoy the fruits of the painful policies introduced by the Second Republic when it came to power, with consistent electricity and fuel supplies now the order of the day while the local currency has stabilised.
More positive results have been registered as the country’s resilience pays off. In an interview last week to mark the 41st Independence Anniversary, President Mnangagwa said Government was satisfied with results so far and was confident more would be achieved this year and into the future, particularly if all Zimbabweans worked in one accord to grow the economy. Zimbabwe today celebrates its Independence from colonial rule under the Theme “Zim@41-Together, Growing our Economy for a Prosperous, Resilient and Inclusive Society”.

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced a suspension of the 64th Independence Anniversary parade, which had been scheduled to take place on March 6, 2021.
The suspension follows a directive from the Office of the President as a result of the high prevalence rate of COVID-19 cases in Ghana.
The directive was communicated to the GES in a letter dated February 11, 2021 from the Office of the Chief of Staff.
What it means is that the 64th Independence Anniversary and all its related activities in the regions, metropolitan, municipal and district assembles across the country have been suspended.
“Consequently, management of the Ghana Education Service wishes to inform all regions that the 64th Independence Anniversary Parade… has been suspended forthwith,” a circular dated February 15, 2021, signed and issued by the Deputy Director-General of the GES, Anthony Boateng said.
