BATON ROUGE - High school students 16 and older will have an opportunity to get a free Pfizer vaccine with the consent of their parent or guardian.
On Monday, Mayor Broome announced the Bring Back School Fun COVID-19 vaccine initiative, designed to bring vaccines to participating schools in East Baton Rouge Parish. The program is a group effort from the EBR Superintendent Dr. Sito Narcisse, Mayor Broome, the Louisiana Department of Health and Our Lady of the Lake.

Film Prize Junior’s record-breaking 2021 festival came to a close last night during a live broadcasted Awards Ceremony where the winning films were announced and over $10,000 in scholarships and media grants were awarded.
The festival, presented by the Louisiana Film Entertainment Association (LFEA) and the Prize Foundation, featured a record-breaking 68 films from 37 schools across the state of Louisiana and saw over 3,000 votes come in from 49 states across the country as well as from England, Ontario Canada, and Puerto Rico over three times the number of votes from last year’s festival.
“I’m not sure we were fully prepared for the overwhelming response to Film Prize Junior 2021,” said Gregory Kallenberg, executive director of the Prize Foundation and Film Prize Junior. “These incredibly talented young filmmakers created some amazing films, and then they brought a massive crowd to the festival. We were blown away!”
Two Baton Rouge public high schools make Louisianaâs top 10Â

Liberty Magnet High School (formerly Lee High School) and Baton Rouge Magnet High School, both part of the EBR Parish school system, were ranked No. 8 and No. 6 in the state, respectively. As usual, Benjamin Franklin High School in New Orleans came in at No. 1. Just two Louisiana schools were ranked in the nationâs top 100âBenjamin Franklin and Patrick F. Taylor Science and Technology Academy in Westwego.Â
Zachary High School and the LSU Laboratory School made the stateâs top 20, according to the list.Â
