COMMENT | Last week, the police started investigating the Freedom Film Network (FFN), its co-founder Anna Har, and cartoonist Amin Landak over the premiere of a short film in mid-June as part of the Freedom Film Festival.
The film, titled
Chilli powder and Thinner, portrays an animated recollection of a person’s dark experience while being held under police custody.
Just this week, police have also started investigating activists from Suara Rakyat Malaysia (Suaram) and Misi Solidariti, two non-governmental organisations (NGOs), in relation to this film. The story from the film was based on a case that was handled by Suaram.

Cops summon four more activists over animation on police brutality

Police have summoned another four activists over a short animation on alleged police brutality.
This was after the police raided the Freedom Film Network (FFN) office in Petaling Jaya and also the home of cartoonist Amin Landak for their role in producing the short animation.
Police had on July 2 questioned FFN.

The police are investigating two individuals in connection with the release of a four-minute animation based on the true story of a boy who testified to being tortured while under police custody with two of his friends.
Freedom Film Network (FFN) - organiser of the annual human rights documentary film festival FreedomFilmFest that premiered Chilli Powder & Thinner on June 12 - said its co-founder Anna Har and cartoonist Amin Landak have been summoned to Bukit Aman for questioning at 2.30pm today.
