COVID-19: Osinbajo cautions against vaccine nationalism

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo says the principle of fairness must be applied by leaders in addressing challenges in health, the economy, and other issues.
Osinbajo’s spokesman, Laolu Akande, in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja, said that the vice president spoke at a virtual forum organised by a leading American Christian University, Liberty University.
The forum with the theme “Equity for Africa: Transforming the World through Judeo-Christian Values,” was hosted by the university’s School of Business.
He warned that current trends in global vaccine distribution headed towards vaccine nationalism.

Former Chief of Staff to Vice President Mike Pence Marc Short spoke at the Liberty University School of Law’s final Professionalism Event of the semester on Wednesday, imploring Liberty Law and government students to model humility and servant leadership in their daily lives and future careers.
“We need good people who are serving in our country in these (leadership) roles,” he said. “Having a servant’s heart in those roles is just as essentially important. Knowing why you are there and knowing that you are serving the American people opposed to serving your own interest is a really important attitude to maintain.”

In his keynote address to kick off the Equity for Africa summit, a three-day conference hosted by the Liberty University School of Business and powered by the Standing for Freedom Center, former U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo recognized faith principles as the propellent for economic growth across Africa.
