LIBERTY TWP. – A Costco store will anchor the $133 million Freedom Pointe development.
Trustees on Tuesday approved a zoning change and preliminary plan for the mixed-use project that includes a restaurant, grocery store, and hotel along with 416 residential apartments and townhouses.
“This will stimulate commercial growth for the township,’’ said Dan Wheeler, an engineer representing Costco. “This project is shovel ready.”
The mixed use project sits on a 88.6-acre site on the east side of Cox Road, north of Liberty Way. The development is near Liberty Center, Christ Hospital and Voice of America Park.
“This is a great opportunity to open a great piece of property for development,’’ said Matt Grever, chief operating officer for Brandicorp.
Liberty drop last game before Olympic Break in loss to Sun, 71-54

After the travel woes and ESPY’s, the New York Liberty returned to Brooklyn Sunday and in the last game before the WNBA’s Olympic break, the Liberty lost to the Connecticut Sun for the second time this season, 71-54.
The Liberty’s point total was by far the lowest total scored by New York this year. Their second lowest was 64 points, also to the Connecticut Sun. The Liberty now fall under .500 with a 10-11 record at the Olympic break while the Sun won their 14th game against six losses.

Five players scored in double figures Friday night as the Indiana Fever won their second straight game following a 12-game losing streak, stopping the New York Liberty 82-69 in Indianapolis.
Kelsey Mitchell scored 20 points and Danielle Robinson added 18 for Indiana (3-16), while Teaira McCowan came off the bench for 15 points and nine rebounds. Tiffany Mitchell and Jantel Lavender each tallied 10 points.
Betnijah Laney scored a game-high 23 points for New York (10-10), but made just 8 of 21 field goal attempts and committed seven of its 20 turnovers. Kylee Shook added 13 points, while Sami Whitcomb and reserve Reshanda Gray each hit for 10.
