Labor picks a fresh fight over energy policy

Labor picks a fresh fight over energy policy Share Labor has vowed to torpedo changes that have enabled two clean energy bodies to invest beyond wind and solar and fund other low-emission technologies such as carbon capture and storage, hydrogen production and green steel. The move, which involves moving motions in both houses of Parliament seeking to overturn government regulations, has already been proposed by the Greens and threatens to spark a fresh energy policy row for Labor, both internally and externally. Chris Bowen has opened a second front in the energy wars with the government- and with some of his own colleagues.

In the Integrated System Plan (ISP) published by the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO)  which models scenarios for achieving long-term reliability, economic and decarbonisation goals, six large Renewable Energy Zones (REZs) were identified for Victoria. Four of those would be inside Powercor’s service territory.
