New adventure farm park near Edinburgh to launch

A family-run Scottish farm “village” is set to open a new adventure farm park and cafe. Craigie’s Farm in Queensferry is home to a deli cafe, shop and farm park, and is run by John Sinclair and his family, who took over the operation from his parents in 1995. The new Little Farmers adventure farm park will house a timber play park for children and a new cafe seating 150 people. The 1200 sqm development doubles the current size of the park, and now features a newly revamped animal shed with six pens of animals for visitors to meet. To support the development, the business approached Bank of Scotland and received a £500,000 funding package and a £65,000 Clean Growth Funding Initiative (CGFI) loan to acquire a 120kW ground source heat pump and a 50kW solar installation which will help reduce the business’ carbon footprint.

Luxury developer unveils Dennistoun apartments

A bespoke Scottish housing developer has unveiled a sustainable apartment block in Glasgow as it strengthens its green credentials. McKernan Homes, based in Cumbernauld, says it has a strong track record of developing sustainable, luxury housing and has been trading in Scotland since 1999, and hailed the move after securing a £1.93 million funding package from Bank of Scotland. To support its latest development in Dennistoun, East Glasgow, the business received the funding package via Bank of Scotland’s Clean Growth Finance Initiative (CGFI) which provides discounted lending to help firms invest in sustainable projects. It will be used to introduce sustainable measures throughout each of the 24 two-bedroom flats, including solar panels on the roof, weather compensators on the boilers, electric charging points in the car park, and increased levels of insulation to efficiently retain heat.
