CLEVELAND Bond was set at $100,000 after Alexander Lackey, 35, pleaded not guilty in court Friday to multiple charges, including five counts of rape. His first pre-trial has been set for April 19 at 9 a.m.
Conditions of his bond include court-supervised release, surrendering his passport, GPS monitoring and no contact with the victim.
3News’ Mark Naymik reported earlier this week that a Cuyahoga County Grand Jury secretly indicted Lackey last month on five counts of rape, three counts of sexual battery and one count of domestic violence.
Cleveland City Hall hired Lackey in December 2014 as a special assistant to the mayor, according to 2019 city payroll records. His annual salary is $64,500, the records show.

COLUMBUS, Ohio The Ohio Elections Commission has voted to refer Newburgh Heights Mayor Trevor Elkins for prosecution over his misuse of roughly $134,000 in campaign funds to cover his personal expenses.
Commissioners voted 5-2 on Thursday to refer Elkins, a Democrat, for prosecution, saying the commission needed to make a tough statement on what they viewed as a precedent-setting case. CLEVELAND A Cuyahoga County Grand Jury last month indicted Alexander Lackey, 35, on five counts of rape, three counts of sexual battery and one count of domestic violence, according to court records.
Cleveland City Hall hired Lackey in December 2014 as a special assistant to the mayor, according to 2019 city payroll records. His annual salary is $64,500, the records show.
Tyler Sinclair, a spokesman for the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office, provided a statement to 3News about the charges against Lackey.
“On January 6, 2021, officers with the Cleveland Division of Police (CPD) responded to a report of domestic violence between Alexander Lackey, 35, and the victim, 19, at his residence on Broxton Avenue near West 144th Street in Cleveland. An aide to Democratic Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson has been accused of multiple sex assaults and rapes over a years-long span that began when the alleged victim was still a minor.
Alexander Lackey, 35, allegedly raped the victim on multiple occasions between October 2018, when she was 17, and January 2021, when police responded to his home for a domestic violence incident involving a 19-year-old woman, according to prosecutors.
In that incident, Lackey allegedly got into an argument with the woman, pushed her out the door and sprayed her in the face with an air freshener, News 5 Cleveland reported.
