CLEVELAND, Ohio Charter communications is teaming up with the Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority partner to bring high-speed internet to residents living in 19 of its properties in the effort to stop the digital divide. On Feb. 22., Charter communications announced the partnership with CMHA, where thousands of residents will be provided with high-speed broadband internet to bridge the gap. Spectrum will be providing residential units with internet starting speeds of 50 Mbps with in-home WiFi, with no data caps or modem fees. The cost has not yet been determined, but CMHA spokeswoman Cortney Crockett said it would be low.

Columbus Metropolitan Housing Authority to provide 1,000 more vouchers

The Columbus Metropolitan Housing Authority plans to issue an additional 1,000 housing vouchers over the next year, while 24,000 remain on its wait list for federally subsidized housing. The housing authority has already issued 12,500 housing vouchers, but the need is much more, as the waiting list shows and housing advocates push for more affordable housing in central Ohio. That doesn’t capture the need for affordable housing, CMHA President and CEO Charles Hillman said. Carlie Boos, executive director of the Affordable Housing Alliance of Central Ohio, said 1,000 more vouchers can be transformational for those families who might not have any housing without them.

FBI Special Agent Vicki Anderson told News 5 the attack is the work of the elusive DoppelPaymer ransomware organization that has victimized other northeast Ohio organizations, and businesses around the world. âWe have been in contact with CMHA, we are working with them, Anderson said. âItâs awful for them to hit anybody, and much less an organization like this.â

Holden Arboretum launches People for Trees campaign to green up balding patches of Cleveland, Northeast Ohio Steven Litt, cleveland.com CLEVELAND, Ohio Government can only do so much to solve the tree-cover crisis that’s spreading bald patches across Northeast Ohio, making communities uglier, less livable, more polluted, and more vulnerable to flooding, erosion and heat waves. That’s why the nonprofit Holden Forests & Gardens is launching a “People for Trees,’ a campaign to enlist volunteers to plant 15,000 trees across the region by 2025. Holden, which operates a 3,500-acre arboretum in Kirtland and the 11-acre Cleveland Botanical Garden in University Circle, hopes to enlist some of its 17,000 members, 1,500 volunteers and 380,000 annual visitors to buy, plant, and care for the trees on private property, in yards or businesses.
