The Federal Government has faulted the 2020 Transparency International Corruption Perception Index (TI-CPI), insisting it does not truly reflect the “great strides” by Nigeria in its fight against the economic enemy.
Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, in a statement yesterday in Abuja, noted that the nation’s anti-corruption agenda, which prioritises prevention measures and building of integrity systems, remained on course.
He observed that the implementation of the various reforms, especially in the Ease of Doing Business, would yield positive outcomes and redefine the country’s corruption perception and other relevant assessments in the next 12 to 24 months.

A former governor of Zamfara State Abdulaziz Yari, has appealed against the judgment of a Federal High Court, sitting in Abuja which ordered him to forfeit N248m to the Federal Government.
The Media aide to the former governor, Mayowa Oluwabiyi, said this in a statement in Abuja, on Sunday.
He assured members of the public that the appellate court would vindicate Yari.
Oluwabiyi said Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, last Tuesday, ruled that Yari should forfeit $669,248 and N24.3m to the government.
He, however, said, the court gave Yari, 14 days to show cause why he should not forfeit the money.
Lai Mohammed, minister of information and culture, says Nigeria's poor rating on the 2020 Corruption Perception Index (CPI) by Transparency International is not a true reflection of the country's anti-graft war.
