TAKEAWAY delivery company Deliveroo has launched in new territory this week and is offering £10 off for new customers. Beginning this week, the company will now be operating in Burnley meaning that local residents will be able to order meals from a range of restaurants and retailers in the town. The app and website will also be continuing to add new partners from across Burnley to its roster of clients over the coming months. Deliveroo regional director Harrison Foster said: Launching in Burnley is a key milestone for Deliveroo. Burnley has a thriving foodie community and a wide range of restaurants and retailers, so we’re excited to connect them.

Deliveroo workers demand better pay and conditions as company floats on London stock exchange Hundreds of Deliveroo riders struck in Britain Wednesday. The union organising the strike, the Independent Workers Union of Great Britain (IWGB), said its members were demanding “fair pay, safety protections and basic workers’ rights.” Around 200 of the gig economy workers protested outside Deliveroo’s London HQ, with socially distanced protests also held in and Reading, Newcastle, York and Leicester. During the day, riders, many with their Deliveroo insulated backpacks on, drove their bicycles and mopeds through the centre of London beeping their horns to publicise their grievances.
