Gunmen on Sunday night kidnapped a prominent petroleum dealer, Suleiman Akinbami, in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital.
The Police Command in Ekiti State, on Monday, confirmed the abduction of the businessman and said a manhunt had been launched with the collaboration of other security agencies.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Mr Akinbami was abducted by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers on Sunday night at about 9:00 p.m. at one of his filling stations located along Ado Ekiti – Ijan Ekiti road, close to the Odo Ado Divisional Police Headquarters.

The Ibadan depot of IPMAN has also threatened to shut down all filling stations in the state if the situation continues unabated. The Chairman of IPMAN, Ibadan Depot, Alhaji Bukola Mutiu, in a statement, said the closure of all filling stations in Ibarapa area of the state is a warning to the Oyo State government to urgently arrest the growing trend of killings and kidnapping of petroleum dealers in the state.

Ibadan, Jan. 5, 2021 The Oyo State Chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC), has advised Gov. Seyi Makinde to adopt the security template of late Gov. Abiola Ajimobi towards addressing security challenges in the state.
This is contained in a statement signed by the state APC interim Publicity Secretary, Dr AbdulAzeez Olatunde on Tuesday in Ibadan.
Olatunde said that Makinde should have built on the security template inherited from his predecessor to sustain peace in the state.
“Sen. Abiola Ajimobi came out with the novel OPERATION BURST during his tenure as the state governor.
“The effort secured Oyo State people for the eight solid years and the good people of the state attested to it with accolades at the expiration of his tenure,” he said.
