It’s understood the officer arrived at a house on Saturday after a complaint from a community member about the theft of goats.
It’s believed an argument erupted between the pair when the victim accused the officer of flirting with a woman known to the victim.
Spokesperson for the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) Ndileka Cola says the officer allegedly fired a single shot, killing the man.

A police constable who shot a man when confronted about “flirting with one of the ladies” as a house was being searched is under investigation by the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid).
The victim, who was shot on Saturday during the verbal altercation at Impendle in KwaZulu-Natal, was rushed to a nearby clinic where he died.
Events leading up the shooting unfolded after a member of the community’s goats were allegedly stolen and “the complainant got information about the suspect who stole their belongings and where they live”, said Ipid spokesperson Ndileka Cola on Sunday.

MK veterans.
Indications are government, not only in the form of its designated national department, is knuckling down to improve the lot of South Africaâs military veterans.
Heading the indicators is Deputy President David Mabuza being picked by his boss, President Cyril Ramaphosa, as the go-to man for old soldiers. Number two on the action list for military veterans came from Parliamentâs Portfolio Committee on Defence and Military Veterans (PCDMV). This committee, under the guidance of chair Cyril Xaba, gave the Department of Military Veterans (DMV) three months to get the long-awaited veteransâ database in order, up and running and it will be checking on progress.
