Takeaway drinks will be back on the menu for pubs when they are allowed to reopen after lockdown. In a “lifeline” to venues, Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s spokesman has said once beer gardens reopen during step two of the road map out of lockdown, Britons will be able to get a takeaway pint. That means they could be offering drinks-to-go from April 12. The serving of alcohol to take away has not been permitted since the last national lockdown began. Under previous restrictions, people could continue to buy drinks from pubs even while they were closed.
Indoor areas of pubs and restaurants are able to fully reopen from May 17
